Amusement Machines

In accordance with the Gaming Definitions Regulations, (S.L. 583.04), an ‘Amusement Machine’ means any type of machine through which a game may be played  via  an  electronic  display, or is made available for use by players in a gaming premises by an operator on a consistent basis, whether or not it is operated by the insertion of money or token, whether or not a successful player receives or is offered a prize, and where the exclusive purpose of such a machine is for amusement and not for gambling purposes.

Any person wishing to operate or in any other manner make available for use an amusement machine in premises accessible to the public shall adhere to the requirements specified within the Amusement Machines Directive, Directive 5 of 2019 here.

Relevant Fees

One-time, non-refundable Amusement Machine registration fee of fifty Euro (€50) per Amusement Machine shall apply.

How to Apply

Any person wishing to operate or in any other manner make available for use an amusement machine in premises accessible to the public, shall be required to submit the Amusement Machine Application Form via email to [email protected]

The application needs to be submitted with the following documentation:

  1. The number of amusement machines for which registration is being sought;
  2. A detailed and accurate report containing a description of the amusement machine and the games that will be playable on such amusement machine;
    Provided that this report shall be supplemented by any other relevant documentation, including photographic images.
  3. A declaration attesting that the exclusive purpose of the amusement machine is for amusement and not for gambling purposes;
  4. The details of the premises where the amusement machine will be situated; and
  5. The details of the event or series of events where the amusement machine will be made available for use, including but not limited to, the name of the event, a description of the event and the duration thereof, if applicable.

Some points to remember while filling the Form:

  • Use N/A in response to any question which is not applicable.
  • The Form shall not be accepted unless all relevant parts have been completed and the required documents has been submitted in full.
